I absolutely LOVE this piece! It was very unfortunate that the motor was broken when I received it. I immediately let Holyart know, asked for a replacement and they refunded me because they did not have a replacement. Since I cannot use it, I will be "hunting" another one down in their site as soon as it becomes available. This figure would be great with 5,6,7 & 8" inch figures, especially because the mother is leaning forward which is excellent since you can set it anywhere in the installation visually closer to the eyes and looking appropriate in any of these scales. The other thing that makes it really good for so many scales is she is young. Therefore when used in an 8inch (the largest scale) it's almost like seeing a "sister" attempting to lift her sister/brother. The detail is in the quality mostly. This was not a cheap figure because it is hand made of clay and painted very daintily. Her clothing has been sewn prior to the adaptation and no seams are "cut leaving flaky threads". The other thing I really liked about this piece is that the overall dimensions are compact and the motor sits underneath the crib, making it IDEAL FOR SMALL DISPLAYS. Unfortunately I could not assess the movement due to the motor not working. In my opinion; very well worth the money, especially when considering that the 2 figures in the display are supposed to move. I have purchased quite a few animation pieces from Holyart and I have noted something that to me, as an installation creator and avid user has a great deal of importance. The pieces that are much more expensive have a quality in finish, make, detail, and thought after simplicity that the cheaper figures don't have. The simplicity of the details allows for the motion of the action to be far more visually enhancing and thus adding tremendous depth to any installation, which is not achievable with the cheaper pieces simply because they have "too much enhancing to make up for details and poor clothing" so the motions of the actions tend to visually fade into the installation, especially when placed in the center or not near eye view. Beautiful piece; truly; and very in tune with the Nativity; nevertheless, it can be used for other types of displays such as Easter or even non denominational.
